What you need
- Dish soap
- Water
- A little sugar or glycerine (optional, for stronger bubbles)
- A few wand shapes: circle, square, straw-and-string loop
Setup
- Mix dish soap, water, and a spoon of sugar in a shallow dish
- Bend a few wand shapes out of pipe cleaners or straws, including a square one
- Test blowing bubbles through each shape
Play prompts
- Does the square wand make a square bubble?
- What shape are all the bubbles once they float free?
- Can you catch a bubble on a wet wand without popping it?
Ways to change it up
- Try blowing bubbles inside a bubble for a bubble-in-a-bubble effect
- Test on a cold day to see frozen bubble patterns
Safety notes
- Supervise so bubble mix is not swallowed
- Watch for slippery ground where mix has spilled
