What you need
- A raw egg (or two)
- Recycling materials: cardboard, straws, cotton wool, bubble wrap, tape
- Scissors
Setup
- Set a challenge: build something that stops the egg breaking when dropped from a set height
- Gather household and recycling materials to build a protective case
- Test-drop from a low height first, then a chosen height outside or over a towel
Play prompts
- What's your plan for keeping the egg safe — cushioning, a parachute, or both?
- Why do you think it survived or broke?
- What would you change for round two?
Ways to change it up
- Run it as a sibling competition with two designs dropped side by side
- Increase the drop height for a second round with the winning design
Safety notes
- Drop over a towel, tray, or outside where a break is easy to clean up
- Adult supervises the actual drop, especially from height
