Cut slits in a paper plate and weave wool or ribbon in and out to make a simple woven mat.

What you need
- Paper plate
- Wool or ribbon
- Scissors
- Tape
Setup
- Cut 8-10 evenly spaced slits around the plate edge
- Tape one end of the wool to the back to start
- Show one over-under weave to begin
Play prompts
- Can you go over then under?
- What colour comes next?
- Can you weave all the way around?
Ways to change it up
- Weave with strips of fabric instead of wool
- Add beads onto the wool for older kids
Safety notes
- Adult cuts the slits and handles scissors for younger children
